The past couple of nights, I've found that there are certain things that make me feel really good. (Okay, this is starting to sound more exciting than it is...) Walking around my driveway and yard barefooted is one of them. I don't go around barefooted very often, mostly because I feel like my feet get dirty and more dried out than they are already. Plus, it's just not that comfortable, inside your house.
The cool, dewy grass, however, is a different story. There's something innately comforting (and comfortable) about walking around on a starry night with naked feet. With the ground a little bit smooshy, and the grass poking up through your toes, you can't help but smile. Then, going over the gravelly driveway offers a whole other sensation, kind of warm, and rough. It feels like a good way to exfoliate my stubborn feet, until I escape back to the grassy respite of the lawn.
In general, I love being outside at night; it's just so calm and peaceful. With the added bonus of wandering around barefooted, though, I can imagine that I will be retreating to my yard more often. I wonder how I let myself quit doing this for so long...
